The Mount Laurel Democratic Committee is the official Democratic Party organization in Mount Laurel Township.
Since 2018, under the leadership of Chairman Michael Muller, local Democrats have made history—flipping the Township Council for the first time in 36 years and building a winning coalition that has defeated Republicans at the federal, state, county, and local levels in every election since.
Our committee is a proven, results-driven organization—and we’re still growing.
At full strength, the committee includes 72 members, elected in the June primary from Mount Laurel’s 36 voting districts. Due to population growth and newly redrawn districts, we can now expand by 18 additional committee seats. The next election for these positions will take place on June 2, 2026, creating a meaningful opportunity for Democrats in our community to step up, participate, and help shape the future of our local party.
Meet Our Chairman
Michael Muller has served as Chairman of the Mount Laurel Democratic Committee since January 2018. He is a Senior Strategist at TargetSmart with more than 30 years of experience in political strategy, public affairs, and opinion research.
Over two decades, Michael led New Jersey’s legislative campaign operations, helping elect more than 50 Democratic candidates and securing the longest stretch of Democratic majority control in state history. His work has earned national recognition, including four Pollie Awards from the American Association of Political Consultants and three Reed Awards from Campaigns & Elections.
Michael lives in Mount Laurel’s Rancocas Pointe neighborhood with his wife, State Assemblywoman Carol Murphy, and she serves as New Jersey Assembly Deputy Speaker and Health Committee Chairwoman at the State Capitol.
Our Mission & How You Can Join Us
Our mission is simple: elect Democrats, strengthen our local party, and give every neighborhood in Mount Laurel a voice.
Committee members play an important but manageable role in our success. Members help:
Register new voters
Encourage vote-by-mail participation
Share information about Democratic candidates and elections
Serve as a local point of contact within their voting district
These are volunteer positions designed to fit real life. The committee meets quarterly, and while there are optional volunteer activities throughout the year, the time commitment is modest and flexible.
Most importantly, serving on the committee is a rewarding experience. You’ll be joining a strong, successful organization, working alongside neighbors who care deeply about our community and our shared values—at a time when civic engagement matters more than ever.
We need your voice. We want your perspective. And there is a seat at the table for you.
In our area, many seats are vacant.
